Marriage Tune-Up

Sunday, February 16, 2025

Marriage is the linchpin relationship in every family. While spouses should always be attentive to how their marriage is running, it also seems wise to schedule regular appointments to review and recalibrate as necessary.

Think about it like a systems check. A car has multiple systems. A typical tune-up looks at the battery and brakes and transmission and tires and spark plugs and fluids. All the systems need to work together, but maybe only one part needs repair at a particular time. Being low on oil doesn’t mean the car is totaled. That said, if you never add oil then it won’t matter how new the windshield wipers are.

There’s another applicable part of the tune-up analogy. Time passing does not fix most problems. Ignoring a warning light until the bulb burns out is a strategy, and it’s stupid.

So we’ll have a “Marriage Tune-Up” day on February 16. Marriage will be the thread throughout the morning liturgy and the explicit subject of the sermon. We’ll also have some additional systems-checks sessions after a potluck lunch. This particular tune-up day will have checks on three systems: the Heart—our loves, the Eyes—our perspective, and the Mouth—our speech.

There is NO COST, and you do NOT need to be married to attend.
