Singing

“Praise the LORD!
Sing to the LORD a new song,
his praise in the assembly of the godly!”
(Psalm 149:1 ESV)

We take seriously the privilege of singing as an assembly in our worship. Here are a couple messages about it: Sing and Shout and Our Worship in Song.

Many of the psalms and hymns we sing come from the Cantus Christi 2020. We also sing a variety of “spiritual songs” (see that language in Ephesians 5:19) as well.

Toward excelling still more, the Sing Your Part app is a great blessing. It has most of the Cantus songs we sing, not just the lyrics but also the melody you can play. You can also focus on any particular part (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), making one more loud and the others quiet for sake of learning and practicing.

If you download the app on your iOS or Android device you can search for Trinity Evangel Church and then see the songs from the Cantus we’ll be singing any given Sunday. There’s also a website you can use, found here Sing Your Part. You can listen to the upcoming songs in preparation for the Lord’s Day. It’s a great resource and very much worth the cost, which is free.

We usually have three or four “all-church choir practices” throughout the year on Sunday evenings. Sometimes we learn new songs/harmony parts, as well as sing some requests.

It is all part of our “service of song” (borrowing langauge from 1 Chronicles 6:31).
